SUCCESSFUL FLOOD CLEAR UP DAY

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the recent clean up day following the devastating floods our local area suffered recently.

We had a successful day clearing stone at Rawcroft, Heggs and Storthwaite.  The local landowners are always very generous in letting us use their land for trials so it was a pleasure to help them out in return and great to see so many people turning up to help.  Thank you to the ladies for providing a good Yorkshire spread to keep the troops going.

One of the landowners sent us this lovely message below, which makes our work worth all the while.

Please pass on my sincerest and heartfelt thanks to all members, friends and
family who gave up their time yesterday to come and muck in at
Rawcroft/Heggs/Storthwaite farms.

The kindness of strangers never ceases to amaze me — I was overwhelmed when
the convoy started to make its way down the track! — and in just one day,
you’ve managed to restore a sense of order to the landscape.

Thanks to days like yesterday, I have never felt alone in the aftermath of
the flood, and that makes all the difference in being able to move forwards.

Warmest wishes,
Liz Sutcliffe

RMC Pledges Manpower and Funds to Support Local Dales Community Flood Relief

As many of you will have seen on the news, our local area was hit by flash flooding last week, resulting in devastating damage to many homes, businesses, farms, vehicles and roads and saw livestock and pets swept away. Fortunately no-one lost their lives, although some had near escapes.  Amongst those affected are a number of landowners who kindly let our club use their land to hold the trials we all love; most notably The Scott Trial, Reeth Three Day and The Mintex, as well as a number of closed to club trials. This area truly is the capital of trials.
The community is pulling together in a fantastic way and there are many offers of support and assistance.
RMC held a meeting last night to discuss how we can help as a club. We are organising a working party on Saturday 17th August 2019 to help with the clear up around the Reeth area, clearing stone and debris and putting up walls where possible.
Anybody who can help, please meet in Reeth at 9.30am (exact working venues to be confirmed).
Please wear suitable clothing and boots and gloves and if you can, please bring shovels, brushes etc.
If you can’t help hands on, but can help with refreshments for workers, please let us know.

We have already had enquiries from the trialing fraternity asking if we are collecting donations, so the club is setting up a fund raising page. Please follow the link below to donate:

The club itself has also pledged to donate £7,500 into this fund, which will be passed on to community funds/organisations in order to support those most affected and also to the Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team, whose rescue services at the height of the floods and ongoing support has proved invaluable to the community.

Thank you for supporting our local community in its time of need.

FLAG AMNESTY!

As our teams are gearing up for marking out this year’s Reeth 3 Day Trial, we are appealing to anyone who has ‘forgotten or lost’ RMC flags stored somewhere other than with Paul Terry in Reeth to return them now.   There are more flags out there, we just need to locate them!

Anyone who has  marking out flags please drop them in to Paul Terry’s garage (Harkers Coaches side door) in Reeth or contact PT to let him know what you have, as we are going to need more flags for Reeth 3 Day Trial and other upcoming trials.

Please take the time to have a look in your sheds/garages to check if you have any forgotten flags stored awaiting return!

Many thanks for your help and cooperation.

FLAGS

Following on from discussions at last night’s RMC meeting, could anyone who has  marking out flags please drop them in to Paul Terry’s garage (Harkers Coaches side door) in Reeth or contact PT to let him know what you have, as we are going to need more flags for upcoming trials like the Mintex and Reeth 3 Day Trial.
