Andrew Allison Memorial Trophy

This Sunday (24th March) we will be running the Andrew Allison Memorial Trial starting at Helwith,  Marske.  There will be 3 Courses – Hard, Green and Clubman with classes for riders from C Class and above.  Weather permitting there will be 2 long laps of 16 sections.

This is a good trial for those riding the SSDT this year as the sections are in natural streams and rocky outcrops, or if you want a great ride out in the Yorkshire Dales then come along.

10.30 am start at DL11 7EG with lots of parking available and catering on the start field.

Richmond Motor Club’s Scott Trial committee were pleased to host their annual Charity Presentation evening on Friday 8th March 2019 at The Buck Hotel, Reeth.

The evening started with John Fraser, Scott Trial Chairman, welcoming everybody and giving a résumé of the history of The Scott Trial and how Richmond Motor Club came to take on the running of it some 28 years ago. John thanked all involved in the running of the Scott Trial and also the landowners, tenants, farmers and gamekeepers for their continued support. He then introduced local trials legend Richard Sunter who, along with his family, has competed in numerous Scott Trials.

Richard presented the cheques to representatives of the various charities, many of whom expressed their gratitude and explained how the donation would be used.
A total of £10,000 raised from the 2018 Trial was given out on the night. This brings the grand total of charity money raised by the Scott Trial since RMC took it on in 1991 to a fantastic sum of over £180,000.

Beneficiaries of this year’s donations are (in no particular order):
Swaledale Scouts, Swaledale Mountain Rescue, Friends of Reeth and Gunnerside Primary Schools, Reeth and Gunnerside Schools Fund, Ravensworth C of E Primary School, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Great North Air Ambulance, Reeth Young Farmers Club, Swaledale Seedlings, The Bridge (previously St. Johns Community Centre), Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution, Hambleton and Richmondshire MS Society, Swaledale and Arkengarthdale Luncheon Clubs Association, Richmond Cricket Club Youth , Moorland Association, St. Teresa’s Hospice, Deaf Education Through Listening and Talking, Holmedale Pre-School, Richmond Cricket Club, Wensleydale Rugby Club Development Fund, Gamekeepers Welfare Trust , ACU Benevolent Fund, The Mowbray Suite at the Friarage Hospital, The Alistair Bullen Memorial Fund, Homestart, Just The Job, Robert Dent Memorial Fund, Marrick Parish Council Village Hall Fund, The British Lung Foundation, Reeth & District Community Transport Ltd, Rape & Sexual Abuse Counselling Centre CIO, Dementia Forward, Upper Wensleydale Sports and Recreation Association and Reeth Literary Institute Trust.

Beautiful Day in Wensleydale

Congratulations to Guy Kendrew for winning the Harold Graham Memorial Trophy for the best ride on the Hard Course and Richard Sadler the Sam Trophy for the 2nd best ride.

Sunday 17th February sees the first of the Richmond Motor Club 2019 Championship Trials being run at Cogden Hall, Grinton.   There will be classes for all ages.   This trial’s results will go towards the RMC Championship awards and there will be the Harold Graham Trophy and Sam Trophies up for grabs to the first and second best riders on the Hard Course.  Start time is 10.30am and there will be catering at the start field.  Entries close on the day but if you want to get an entry form filled in before hand you can download one here:    Entry Form – Harold Graham 2019  This year once again we are offering ACU day licences for those who do not have an ACU licence for £3, available on the day.    If anyone would like to observe please email secretary@richmondmotorclub.com if you can help us.

RMC NEW RECRUITS AND POSTS VACANT  – We are delighted to welcome back Jill Harker to the RMC team (after quite a few years!) as our new Scott Trial Treasurer.  We are still looking for a new Scott Trial Programme Editor, so if you are interested or know anyone who might be, please email our Scott Trial Secretary at scottsecretary@richmondmotorclub.com

We are pleased to announce that our new President is Paul Astwood and our new Chairman is Simon Williamson, who has stepped up from Vice Chair.  Andrew Swainston has taken on the supporting role of Vice Chair and Nathan Stones is going to become one of RMC’s directors.  We are  very happy to welcome some new faces onto the RMC committee as post holders and helpers,  as some of us longer standing members (we’ll refrain from saying older!) are wanting to ease off on duties.  Thank you to all those outgoing post holders for all your hard work.   We are currently in the midst of recruiting some new post holders for administration, treasurer and secretarial duties.  We are very excited to have interest from some lovely ladies who are already involved in the trialing world and are going to be a real asset to the Club.  Watch this space for updated news on our new recruits.

We still have the post of RMC Minutes Secretary vacant and need more people coming forward to offer help with Sports Secretary roles still vacant.  If you are interested in helping out with any of these roles, which could be job shared, please email secretary@richmondmotorclub.com.  If you feel you can help out in any way at all, please do get in touch.  For any Club to continue successfully it needs fresh faces to join in and help and also younger members to step up and get involved with the organisation side.  You won’t be thrown in at the deep end, you’ll be shown how to do a job and will have plenty of support.

Richmond Motor Club continues to go from strength to strength and we very much look forward to working with our new team members.
