2017 SCOTT TRIAL OFFICIAL PROGRAMME – COMING SOON!

 

The 2017 Scott Trial Official Souvenir Programme, in full colour, will be on sale from October 7th, runs to 92 pages. It is packed with all the information you will need to spectate at the annual classic on Saturday, 21st October including a full rider list, course map and guide to places to watch. As well as being liberally enhanced with historical Scott photos and some features on the event landowners, past and present, there are points of interest which you can read up about when you are waiting for the first riders to arrive!

The programmes will be available at the start-field on the day and from the usual local outlets prior to the event. These include: Richmond Petrol Stations; Cross Lanes Store, Richmond; CJ Tennant & Estate Cafe, Richmond; Neeps & Tatties, Richmond; Smith and Allan, Darlington; Piercebridge Farm Shop; AG Bikes, Low Row etc. plus all the usual Reeth outlets. Priced at £5, all profits made from the sales, as usual, will go directly to The Scott Charities.  Not going to be at the start-field or in these towns? Scott Trial 2017- Press Release

This year’s Scott Trial is fast approaching, so all you riders who fancy riding the famous course  and sections alongside current and past World, European and British champions, get your entries filled in and sent before the closing date of 8th September 2017. The new Scott secretary Ken Wallis scottsecretary@richmondmotorclub.com is busy getting all the land permissions in place while taking the entries and attending to all the other paperwork which goes with the running of this famous trial. The Clerk of the Course Paul Robinson, with his assistants has already been plotting the route which promises to have more new sections on new routes as well as keeping the traditional sections for both riders and spectators.

SCOTT TRIAL AWARDS SECRETARY VACANCY – CAN YOU HELP?

We also currently have a vacant position of Awards Secretary for The Scott Trial.  If you would like to get involved in the organisation of this epic trial and shadow some of the work which is already underway this year, including the administration of award sponsors and ordering of awards, etc., with a view to taking the role on fully next year, please get in touch with our secretary Ken Wallis: scottsecretary@richmondmotorclub.com.  The job also entails setting up the award display on Scott Trial day prior to the presentation evening and also being available on the night to coordinate the awards and trophies being presented.  Help and guidance will be given from our team to start you off in this role – please get in touch for more information.

Easter Trials, Scott Charity Presentation & Reeth 3 Day Entry List

As always Easter Weekend is a busy time for RMC, with 2  trials being held in Swaledale & Richmond.  Information below

* Easter Monday (17th April 2017) – Easy Clubman and Youth Trial – Iron Banks, Richmond, DL10 4SJ.  Classes for Clubman/All Youth and Small Course.  10.30 am start.   Catering available at the start field.

Scott Trial Charity Presentation Evening:

On Friday 7th April  at The Buck Hotel Reeth, The Scott trial charity donations were given out to many local recipients. The evening began with Treasurer Richard Hague giving a brief history of the Scott trial from its first running in 1914 up to its present day, Nigel Cummins, Richmond Motor Club President, then presented the cheques to the various charities, a number of which explained how the money would be spent.

A total of £10,975.00 was  given out this year, which included £3,475 raised by a charity team at the trial, for The Mark Adams Trust. This brings the total to over £160,000 since Richmond Motor Club took over the running of the trial in 1991. Many thanks to all who help and sponsor the trial, far too numerous to mention, and thoughts now turn to this years event which is on 21st October 2017. An excellent buffet then followed and one recipient (Mary Lovell MBE) even had a sit on a bike !!!!

After another great entry for this year’s trial the ballot has now been drawn for the 250 places available.

Please note that riders cannot now change courseAs you will see there is a long waiting list so please let us know if you need to withdraw as soon as possible by emailing reeth3day@richmondmotorclub.com  to give another rider a chance to ride.  A full refund will  be given if your place is filled (£10 administration fee charged after 1st July)
