Richmond Motor Club is a motorcycle trials club in the heart of North Yorkshire. We run club trials all year round, two of the sport's best-known events, and a friendly club that welcomes riders, families and volunteers of every age and ability.

Our Story
From Car Club to Trials Club
Richmond Motor Club started life many decades ago as a car club, running rallies and treasure hunts around the Dales. That's where the "Motor" in our name comes from. Over the years the club found its real home in motorcycle trials, and it's been at the heart of the sport in Yorkshire ever since.
Today we're Richmond Motor Club (Yorkshire) Ltd, affiliated to the ACU Yorkshire Centre. We run trials across some of the finest terrain in the country, and since 1991 we've been the organisers of the world-famous Scott Trial.
Plenty has changed, but not the spirit. We're still a grassroots club run by volunteers who love the sport and want to share it.

Club Trials
Our regular trials run throughout the year with routes for every level, from first-timers to experts. They're the best way to get started, and the heart of the club.
The Scott Trial
The legendary time-and-observation trial across Swaledale, first ridden in 1914 and organised by RMC since 1991. A true test of rider and machine.
Reeth 3 Day Trial
Three days, three courses and close to a hundred sections in Swaledale and Arkengarthdale. Our summer classic, with a big paddock atmosphere to match.
Championship Rounds
We host rounds of the ACU Yorkshire Centre championships, giving local riders the chance to compete at a higher level close to home.
Youth & Small Wheel
Younger riders are the future of the sport. We run events and routes for small-wheel and youth riders so they can learn, progress and have fun safely.
Training Days
From youth training to practice days, we help riders build skills, confidence and technique, coached by people who know the sport inside out.

Top-level events are great, but club trials are where the sport lives. We keep them accessible, affordable and fun.

We ride on private land thanks to farmers, landowners and gamekeepers. Looking after it, and them, comes first.

Young or old, beginner or expert, modern bike or classic. If you want to ride, watch or help, there's a place for you here.
04 Run by Volunteers
Every trial depends on observers, clerks, course setters and helpers. Our volunteers are the backbone of the club.

Join the Club
Become a member of Richmond Motor Club. It's quick, good value, and gets you into our events and the club community.

Register With the ACU
Trials riders need ACU registration for their discipline. We're happy to help if you're not sure what you need.

Sort Your Kit
Helmet, boots and clothing that covers your arms and legs. You don't need the latest bike. Members often have kit and bikes for sale.

Enter a Club Trial
Pick an event, sign on, collect your number and ride. Choose an easier route to start and ask questions. Everyone was new once.

Behind the Scenes
How the Club Runs
Richmond Motor Club is run by its members, for its members. A volunteer committee looks after the events calendar, the finances and the big events, and it meets regularly. Members are always welcome to come along and have their say.
Around that is a wider team: clerks of the course, course setters, observers, timekeepers, caterers and helpers, plus the landowners whose goodwill makes everything possible. Our trophy cabinet is full of awards named after members who've given a lot to the club over the years, and we're proud to keep their names going.
